He was an avid poker player, liked to bowl, loved to hunt, and he loved baseball; especially the Atlanta Braves. He was in the Naval Reserve, Army Reserve, and National Guard. He was a past member of the Elks, and he was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife Eva, survivors include his daughter Debra Martin and husband Larry; two sons, Loren Readinger and wife Julie, and Randall Readinger and wife Betsy, all of Fort Scott; three stepdaughters, Vicky Ray and husband David of Tulsa, Okla., Bonnie Bailey and husband Larry of Nevada, and Jenet Hill and husband Martin, of Nevada; two cousins, David Hoskins of Fort Scott, and Frank "Hoss" Hoskins of St. Louis, Mo.; first wife Leota; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Gary Dunn.
The Rev. Darrin May recited the Rosary at 6 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., following the Rosary service.
