Nichelle Nichols, whose most prominent role was that of Lt. Uhura on the 1960's science-fiction television program "Star Trek," poses with her Gordon Parks Choice of Weapons Award during a tribute dinner for Parks at Fort Scott Community College Friday night. A story about Nichols' accomplishments can be seen in last Saturday's edition of the Weekend Herald-Tribune or online at www.fstribune.com.

All I can say is we are blessed to have had Gordan Parks as a resedent.

Look at all the good things that have happened to Fort Scott because of him.

Had it not been for Gordon Parks, how many famous people would have ventured to visit our Historic town.

I haven't checked lately, yet how many tourest are even interested in the history of Fort Scott?
