PARSONS -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team finished fourth in a six-team tournament hosted by Labette County here Tuesday.
Bailee Hall and Corina Harrison had a 4-1 record in No. 2 doubles, finishing the highest of Fort Scott's entrants. They beat Tiffani Sexton/Sarah Nading of LCHS Red, 6-5 (7-3), Katana Smith/Abbey St. Clair of Iola, 6-1, Alicia Broadway/Jeana Bogna of LCHS Gold, 6-1, and Heather Ward/Kyleigh Wells, from LCHS but filling a Parsons vacancy, 6-0. Their loss came to September Perkins/Nicole Handshy of Pittsburg, 6-4.
Hannah Messer and Sammi Carr went 1-4 in No. 1 doubles. Their victory came over Alisha Vitt/Kaitlyn Phillips of LCHS Gold, 6-2. Their losses were to Kaitlyn Woolfolk/Kelsey Baker of LCHS Red, 6-3; Ty Ellis/Amber Snesrud of Iola, 6-4; Jessica Nickelson/Samantha Fletcher of Parsons, 6-2; and Kacee Sinclair/Jessica Curlee of Pittsburg, 6-2.
Krista Hightower played No. 1 singles for the Tigers. She lost all five matches. Scores were 6-1 against Amanda Clapp of LCHS Red, 6-0 versus Autumn Snesrud of Iola, 6-4 to Stephanie Hinman of LCHS Gold, 6-0 to Malina Kipp of Parsons, and 6-2 against Erica Springer of Pittsburg.
Aubin Duff played No. 2 singles and was also 0-5. Scores were 6-4 to Sami Mansfield of LCHS Red, 6-3 to Toni Cartwright of LCHS, filling an Iola vacancy, 6-3 to Bethany Baker of LCHS Gold, 6-1 to Jennifer Nickelson of Parsons and 6-1 to Robyn Brummett of Pittsburg.
The Parsons JV Tournament, which was to be held here Monday, will be made up next Monday.
