Reward offered for info about vandals

Monday, September 21, 2009
Fort Scott Police Chief Ron Puterbaugh announced Monday morning that the Fort Scott Police Department in cooperation with several concerned citizens are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the recent window shootings.

Several area businesses and residences have had windows damaged since May causing nearly $20,000 in damages, according to police reports. Most recently Buffalo Grill, 3 W. Oak St., and the old Boot Jack Building, 2 S. State St., were damaged over the Labor Day weekend. Eugene Ware Elementary School, 900 E. Third St., suffered the most damage, estimated at about $5,000 in addition to several window screens at the school, valued at $100.

As police continue investigations of the incidents, they are also seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who has a tip or lead that police may follow regarding the criminal damages are encouraged to call the FSPD Tip hotline at (620) 223-1711. People who choose to call the hotline can leave an anonymous voice message for police. Callers also have the option of dialing FSPD dispatch at 223-1700.

I hope someone turns them in & collects the reward. Then those who are responsible should pay for the damages and reimburse the reward money as well.
