OSAWATOMIE -- Fort Scott High School's volleyball team took two of three matches here Tuesday night. The Tigers defeated Prairie View, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, and Osawatomie, 25-22, 13-25, 25-18, before falling to Louisburg, 25-11, 25-11.
"We played well against Prairie View and Osawatomie but in both matches, let down in the second game," Fort Scott head coach Carol Bingesser said. "Louisburg is by far the best team we have seen this season."
Sammi Therwhanger and Mallory Shelton each had 4 kills against Prairie View. Shelton, Therwhanger and Megan McDermed each had 4 kills in the Osawatomie match. Jenna Campbell and Kori Allen each served two aces.
The Tigers have been taken to three games in four matches this season and won all of them.
Louisburg is one of the best teams in the Kansas City area and showed it against the Tigers.
"They're very strong at the net, served well," Bingesser said. "We struggled with serve receive and passing. When that happens, you automatically struggle with hitting. We tipped a lot of balls instead of taking a swing at them."
The Tigers (10-3) will travel south on Saturday to take part in the Pittsburg Tournament.
