Uniontown JV 2nd in Marmaton Valley tourney

MORAN -- Uniontown's junior varsity volleyball team won four of five matches at the Marmaton Valley Tournament here Saturday to finish in second place.

First, Uniontown swept Humboldt, 15-6, 15-2. Kelsey Mathis served 6 points for the Eagles.

Next, the Eagles defeated Howard-West Elk, 15-13, 15-10. Hope Jurgensen served 7 points.

In the third match, Uniontown beat Crest, 15-7, 15-2. Megan Schnichels and Lauren Rockholt served 9 points each.

Next came a 15-6, 15-7 sweep of Southeast. Paige Stainbrook served 11 points for the Eagles.

In the finals, Uniontown faced Southern Coffey County with the Titans prevailing in three games, 13-15, 15-7, 15-7. Jurgensen served 7 points for the Eagles.

The Eagle JV will be at Southeast Tuesday for a quadrangular. Also this week, the Uniontown varsity will go to Riverton for a non-league quad and the freshmen will play in a tournament at Iola on Saturday.
