Uniontown falls in season opener

UNIONTOWN, Kan. -- Uniontown scored first but visiting Central Heights took a 30-7 victory in the first game of the season for both teams.

DuShaun Robinson scored Uniontown's only touchdown on a 3-yard interception return in the second quarter.

But Central Heights scored on a 14-yard pass play to Dalton Schwab to get within 7-6 at halftime. Then J.D. Johnson put the Vikings ahead on a nine-yard run in the third. Schwab scored two of Central Heights' three fourth-quarter touchdowns on runs of 3 and 15 yards. Johnson scored in between those on a 24-yard run. The Vikings did not succeed on any of their conversion attempts.

Uniontown gained 169 total yards, 148 on the ground as Jordan Woods had 69 yards on 10 carries. Central Heights had 277 total yards with 170 coming on the ground.

Matt Maloney led the Eagle defense with 9 tackles. Zach Travis had 8 tackles and an interception.

Uniontown travels to Howard for a game against West Elk next Friday night.
