JV volleyball opens with sweep

COLUMBUS -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity volleyball team began its season here Tuesday night by sweeping three opponents, including Iola and Independence.

Against Columbus, the scores were 25-7, 25-18. Kenzie Heatherly served 4 aces. Taylor Grant had 4 kills and Jessica Cox recorded 6 digs.

The Tigers beat Iola in three games, 25-20, 11-25, 19-17. Heatherly served 3 aces and Kristin Allen had 7 digs.

Against Independence, scores were 25-22, 25-23. Cox had 4 kills and 10 digs.

JV coach Treva Williams reported that Heatherly did not make an error on all 38 serves she made for the night.

The Tiger JV was back in action Tuesday night at Iola with a triangular that also included Prairie View. After that, they won't play again until Sept. 15 in a quad at Osawatomie that will include Louisburg and Prairie View.
