Tuesday's meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Commission Room at City Hall, 1 E. 3rd. The meeting is a result of discussions that took place during the city commission meeting held Aug. 18 in which Mark Pressly, representing Lake Fort Scott residents, expressed concerns that the city was not fully aware of what they were about to agree to.
At the Aug. 18 meeting, the city commission was asked to sign a letter of agreement to the county which states the city would maintain the sewer system.
"The City is willing to provide sewer service ... if a benefit district can be formed and the necessary funding procured to make the project a reality," the letter states.
The usage charge would be the same as a resident living within the city limits, however, in addition to providing the service, the city would be responsible for maintaining a pressurized system at no additional cost to Lake Fort Scott residents. Pressly said during the Aug. 18 meeting that it would be very difficult to maintain the proper pressure at all times which could be costly to the city.
