Forum about Harry S Truman State Park is set for Sept. 5

Saturday, August 22, 2009
In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is asking the public to bring ideas to an open house Saturday, Sept. 5, regarding Harry S Truman State Park near Warsaw. The open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the park contact station.

During the event, park staff will give a brief presentation about progress at the park and discuss future plans. Visitors have the opportunity to share comments on the park's services and operations. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department has constructed a high water boat launch at the State Park Marina providing a safe, convenient means to launch during high water or flooded conditions. Construction of a shelter for shade at the public beach will begin in the fall.

Harry S Truman State Park is located 6 miles west of Warsaw on Highway 107, then 2 miles on Highway UU.

Persons requiring special services or accommodations to attend the open house can call the park directly at (660) 428-7711 or the Department of Natural Resources toll free at (800) 334-6946 (voice) or (800)379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
