Dog show results; Chasing Dixie plays tonight

The first batch of results from the Bourbon County Fair were delivered to the Tribune Wednesday afternoon.

The 2009 fair continues through Satruday at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds, 21st and Huntington. A concert by new country band Chasing Dixie highlights Thursday's fair slate.

The results of the 4-H Dog Show were revealed with Kelli Wilkinson receiving the Grand Champion ribbon and Jana Wilkinson the Reserve Champion ribbon for the peformances their dogs displayed.

Kelli Wilkinson was also the Showmanship Class champion. Winners of the Obidience Class were Haley Melton, senior division; Meredith Hill, intermediate; and Christin Gulifoyle, junior division. In the Agility Class, Melton was the winner in the senior division, Hill in the intermediate and Graham Hathaway in the junior division.

Other fair event results will be published as they come in, with the majority printed in the Fair Results Edition later this month.

The Chasing Dixie concert will be held at 8 p.m. tonight at the Danny and Willa Ellis Fine Arts Center on the campus of Fort Scott Community College, 2108 S. Horton. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The band is comprised of Alaina Whitaker, who was one of the 20 finalists on American Idol during the 2007 season, Erin James and Andrea Young.

Thursday at the fair begins with swine judging and a Chamber Coffee at 8 a.m. The 4-H Fashion Revue practice is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the show slated for 5:30.

Round Robin Showmanship is set to begin at 3 p.m.

Friday's events start with the Livestock Judgins Contest at 8 a.m. The Buyer's Appericiation Supper will be prior to the Junior Livestock Sale. The supper is at 5:30 with the sale set to start at 7.

A Garden Tractor Pull is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.

A Missouri Tractor Puller Association event is the highlight of Saturday's activities, starting at the fairgrounds arena at 7 p.m.

You need to double check your fair schedule...The Missouri Tractor Puller Assoc Tractor Pull isn't until Aug. 1. Saturday night's event is the Jordan Snyder Memorial ATV Shodeo.
