The Workman Bluegrass Band is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion near the corner of First and Main streets.

The five-member band includes vocalist Brian Workman, Springfield, Mo., bassist Steve Workman, Joplin, Mo., Randy Brasuell, Fort Scott, who sings and plays the mandolin and fiddle, Russ Brasuell, Bella Vista, Ark., who sings and plays the dobro, and Jerry Bahr, a guitarist and vocalist from Fort Scott.

The concert is part of the continuing weekly Friday night summer concert series that is sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Division.

According to concert series co-organizer Ralph Carlson, the band performed last year in the Pavilion and were well-received so they were booked to perform a show again this year.

"Their expertise on their instruments and their excellent vocal skills combine to provide a first-rate performance," a statement from Carlson said. "We are pleased to have them return this year and are confident that the audience is in for a real treat."

Those interested in attending the concert should remember to bring their own lawn chairs as seating is not provided at the event.
