Wednesday, June 24, 2009
MULBERRY -- A Mulberry man was injured in a one-vehicle accident late Friday near Girard.

At 11:56 p.m. Friday, Christopher Davidson, 27, was injured when the 2001 Honda 400EX all-terrain vehicle he was driving overturned and landed on top of him as he was attempting to go up a creek embankment on private property west of Girard, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

The ATV that Davidson was driving is owned by Robby Threlfall of Girard.

Davidson was transported to Girard Hospital by a personal vehicle and later taken by Crawford County EMS to Joplin, Mo., to be treated for possible head injuries, according to a news release.

FRONTENAC -- Two men were injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident late Saturday near Frontenac.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Brian Edwards, 30, West Mineral, and Craig Smith, 24, Pittsburg, suffered a variety of injuries in the accident, which took place shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday just north of 580th Avenue on 200th St. about two miles east of Frontenac.

The 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix, which was traveling south on 200th St., left the roadway in the east ditch, striking a mailbox and going over the culvert, rolling an unknown number of times, striking a contact box and power pole, and finally coming to rest on its top. The vehicle was owned by Kathleen Morris, Mulberry.

One individual was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, and the other was located about a mile from where the vehicle came to rest. Both individuals are listed as passengers as it is currently unknown which person was driving the vehicle, according to a news release.

Edwards and Smith were transported to Mt. Carmel Medical Center by Crawford County EMS for multiple injuries, the news release said.
