Davis was named to the Second Team as a pitcher. This season Davis had a 16-3 record, and earned run average of 0.35 and struck out 256 batters while walking only 28 in 142 innings pitched.
Kylie Taylor, a senior catcher from Iola, was the only other Southeast Kansas League player honored. She was named to the Second Team as a catcher.
Other area players of note honored included Chelsy Mitchell, a sophomore outfielder, and Carlieigh Hall, a junior outfielder from Class 4A State champion Riverton. Mitchell was named First Team while Hall was put on the Second Team.
Seniors Ariel Vinze and Starr McLeod of Girard were also honored. Vinze was a Second Team infielder and McLeod joins Davis as a Second Team pitcher.
Riverton, which moved up from Class 3A this school year, became the first CNC school and just the second from southeast Kansas to win a State title when it won 4A this year. The first area team to win State was Fort Scott in 2005.
