Shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, the sheriff's department received a 911 call reporting a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies and EMS responders found two people at the site to which they were called, but no stab victim was located. Following an investigation, deputies were unable to locate a victim or confirm that a stabbing had taken place, according to a statement from Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton.
About four hours later, at 8:07 a.m., the sheriff's office received a call from Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott reporting a stabbing victim had just arrived at the emergency room. Deputies responded and interviewed a 21-year-old man from Arcadia who had received a stab wound to his side. The man was treated and released from the hospital, according to the statement from Horton.
The Crawford County Sheriff's Department is continuing an investigation into the incident.
