James Bond represents FSCC in bareback riding while Carrson Hiatt is competing in bull riding.
Of the two, Hiatt has a better chance of gaining a berth in the finals even though he had no score in the first go on Sunday. This is because he has two gos remaining, both scheduled for Tuesday, and can improve his score enough to make it into finals.
Only one competitor among those who have already had two gos has managed to last the full eight seconds in both of them. That is Tag Elliott of the College of Southern Idaho, who scored a 76 in his first go Sunday and 79 in his second go Monday. His total score of 155.0 gives him a great advantage going into the final go.
Cameron Bland of Wharton County Community College (Texas) is second in bull riding with a score of 84.0. He had no score in his first go Sunday but stayed on for a score Monday. In third place is Stetson Rasberry of Texas Tech, who had an 81.0 on Sunday's first go but did not score Monday.
Bond has already been through two gos and is in 13th place in bareback riding with a score of 80 points. However, he had no score on the second go on Monday. His last chance to make the finals will take place Friday night.
Every rider ahead of Bond was able to complete two gos while 12 of the 33 competitors have yet to take their second go.
The leader is Steven Peebles of Western Wyoming College with a score of 158.5. He scored a 76.5 on Sunday and an 82.0 Monday. Dusty Garcia of Southwestern Oklahoma State is second with a score of 155.5. Jared Smith of Western Texas College is third with 153.0 points.
