Michael H. Burris, 44, of Jefferson City, Mo., died on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.

Michael was born on Nov. 23, 1964, in Cameron, Mo., the son of Ronald Burris and Connie Cahalin. His father and stepmother, Phyllis Burris, survive in Martinsdale, Mont., and his mother and stepfather, Mike Cahalin, survive in Holt's Summit, Mo. He was married on Nov. 24, 2003, in San Diego, Calif., to Nancy E. Uribe, who survives of the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Michael was a 1983 graduate of Russellville High School and attended Oral Roberts University, where he received a certificate in ministry.

He was a sales representative of office machines for 22 years, most recently with DaCom Corporation of Columbia. Throughout his many years as a sales representative, Michael achieved numerous awards and recognitions for effective salesmanship and superior leadership. His compassionate and friendly nature lent itself to turning many business relationships into lifelong friendships.

Michael attended First Assembly of God Church, in Jefferson City, and founded Michael Burris Ministries. Through his ministry, he developed the Rejoicing in Hope Web site and was an evangelist who recently took a ministry trip to Alaska. He never missed an opportunity to share with others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He had a deep love for his family and friends and was always ready to pray with them in any situation. He was a true example of compassion, grace and faithfulness, with a tremendous capacity to accept everyone from all walks of life.

Other survivors include: his son, Caleb Burris, of the home; his daughter Paige Burris, of Nevada; two stepsons, Roberto Uribe III, and Michael Uribe, both of San Diego; one sister, Ronda Stegmann, and her husband John, of Taos, Mo.; paternal grandmother, Oma Burris, of Clarksdale, Mo., and paternal grandfather, Tom Burris and his wife Bernice, of Sarasota, Fla.; one niece, Megan Jolly and one nephew, Nicholas Stegmann, both of Taos, Mo.; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by one infant sister, Rayme Burris, and his maternal grandparents, Burnis and Marjorie Moore, of Maysville, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, June 8, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Lowell Perkins officiating. Inerment will be at Enloe Cemetery, in Russellville, Mo.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1-4 p.m., on Sunday, June 7. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Caleb Burris Educational Fund.
