Chester Leroy Wolf

Chester Leroy Wolf passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Foxwood Springs Nursing Home, Raymore, Mo., following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Moline, Kan., to Albert Wolf and Jennie Wickham Wolf. He was married March 24, 1946, in Nevada, to Sarah Lorene Wolf and she preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2009.

Mr. Wolf was born in Kansas and spent some of his youth in Texas. He spent the majority of his adult life in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the United State Army during World War II in the Asian and Pacific Theater of War as a heavy machine gunner. Following the service he returned to Kansas City and made his living as a postal clerk. Following his retirement he made his home in Nevada, for 35 years.

Survivors include one son, David Wolf, Raymore, Mo.; one daughter, Ginger Harrison, Greenwood, Mo.; three grandchildren, Michael Wolf, Raymore, Jim Brinkmeyer, Lone Jack, Mo., Tanya Allen, Grandview, Mo.; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sarah, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Wolf.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 1, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Jerry Pyle officiating. Interment will follow, with full military honors, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, Mo.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon between 1:30 and 2 p.m. prior to the service.
