GEORGETTA ADA THIESING

Georgetta Ada Thiesing, 97, of Walnut, Kansas died at 4:37 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009, at her residence in Walnut.

She was born June 27, 1911 at rural Walnut, a daughter of Herman and Margaret (Koester) Tobaben. She attended schools in Brazilton.

She married Edward Warren Thiesing on August 8, 1936 at Brazilton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1984.

They were lifelong farmers at rural Walnut.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler after the Zion Lutheran Church at Brazilton was closed. Mrs. Thiesing's father helped to build the church in Brazilton.

She enjoyed family dinners, playing dominoes and cards, social events, quilting, crocheting, and fishing.

Survivors are daughters Sandra Claudette Espinosa and husband Joe of Wagoner, Oklahoma; Edwina Kay Lohuis of Walnut; and Beverly Eileen Gorman of Prescott, Kansas; son-in-law, Gary Wood of Prescott; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughters Karen Reed, on January 23, 1996; Margaret Ann Mangette, on June 16, 1994; and Janice Wood, on March 16, 2007; brothers Hugo H. Tobaben, on May 29, 1989 and Clarence E. Tobaben, on July 11, 1965.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler, Kansas with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating. Burial will be in the Zion/Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Brazilton, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 3:00 p.m., Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice of America or Immanuel Lutheran Church and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
