Tiger JV hosts Nevada, wins 11 of 12 matches

Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team played host to Nevada Friday and won 11 of 12 matches against its guest.

The Red team beat Nevada, 5-1, and the White team won 6-0. After that, the two Fort Scott teams played each other with the Red team winning, 6-0.

In the Red-vs.-Nevada match, there were four 6-1 victories. Cody Harper beat Colton Hardy in No. 1 singles, Kholton Dwyer beat Josh Lowry in No. 2 singles, Dillon Peel downed Matt Stiles in No. 4 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Carson Claypool and Peel beat Stiles and Doug Decocq.

Claypool defeated Decocq, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. The only Nevada win came in No. 1 doubles as Hardy and Lowry beat Harper and Dwyer, 6-3.

In the White-vs.-Nevada match, Kyle Altic beat Hardy, 6-2, in No. 1 singles. Bryce Daly defeated Lowry, 6-5 (7-3), in No. 2's. Jimmy Cox had a 6-2 win over Decocq in No. 3's. And Matt Hull beat Stiles, 6-2, in the No. 4 match.

In doubles play, Altic/Daly beat Hardy/Lowry, 6-5 (10-8), in No. 1's and Cox paired with Andrew Benage to beat Decocq and Stiles, 6-2, in the No. 2 match.

After that, it was the Red-vs.-White match. The Red player is listed first in the following results

* No. 1 singles: Harper beat Altic, 6-2.

* No. 2 singles: Dwyer over Daly in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-5).

* No. 3 singles: Peel defeated Benage, 6-1.

* No. 4 singles: Kyle Kelly beat Michael Flater, 6-4.

* No. 1 doubles: Harper/Dwyer defeated Altic/Daly, 6-4.

* No. 2 doubles: Claypool/Kelly beat Hull/Flater, 6-4.

The JV team hosted a tournament Monday. The Tribune will publish those results in its Wednesday edition.
