U-235 to screen new kindergartners

USD 235 will conduct screenings of prospective kindergarten students from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 16-17 at West Bourbon Elementary School, 602 Fifth St., Uniontown.

Youngsters must be at least five years of age on or before Aug. 31 to participate in the 30-minute screenings, which will be scheduled by appointment. Parents must bring birth certificate, Social Security number and immunization records. Free physical exams and immunizations will be available for interested students on April 16. Vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings for preschool children will be conducted on April 17 at WBE. Appointments for youngsters up to two years of age can be made by calling Birth to Three Program spokeswoman Beth Case at (620) 249-2949. Appointments for preschool children between three and five years of age can be scheduled by calling Debbie Potter at (620) 235-3152.

Parents should be aware that these screenings are not designed for four-year old students in the At-Risk program.
