Bertha Rogers, 80, of Fort Scott passed away Tuesday night March 31, 2009, at the Mercy Health Center.
She was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Bourbon County the daughter of Ralph Day and Dolly Bertha (Morrow) Ruby.
She married Henry George Ritz February 16, 1953. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1961. She later married 'Bud' Vernon Rogers and he preceded her in death June 14, 1989.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at 15th and Crawford in Fort Scott, and also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Bertha is survived by her children; LaVerne Jones of Washington, NC, Penny Johanning of Blue Mound, KS, Stacy Brown of Fort Scott, and Robin Ritz, also of Fort Scott, a brother; Hallie Ruby of Fort Scott, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters; Anna Mae Johnson, Bessie Riley, Elizabeth Nuzum, Mabel Wehar, Thelma Rohnke, and Alice Johnson, and two brothers; Rollie Ruby, and Charlie Ruby.
Rev. Mike Chipman will conduct funeral services 1:30 p.m. Friday April 3, 2009 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with burial following at the US National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Visitation will be Thursday evening April 2, 2009 from 7 -- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
