Katherine Harris Ripley

Katherine Harris Ripley, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, in LaMonte, Mo. She was born the daughter of Thomas and Ethel Harris in Northeast Kansas City, Mo. She was born and reared at 12th and Indiana. She married Maurice Ripley on Aug. 9, 1941. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 2007. Kay was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Kansas City and attended the Methodist Church of Moundville, Mo. She was also a member of the Order Eastern Star and a 4-H leader in the Moundville area for several years as well as the Drywood Community Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Ripley Eckhoff and husband Olen, LaMonte, Mo.; a brother, Sammy Harris, Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lewis Eckhoff and Christopher Eckhoff and wife Donya, all of LaMonte, and Daniel Eckhoff and wife Diana, Sedalia, Mo. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Brandon Eckhoff and Hailey Eckhoff, of LaMonte. In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Dubray and Lea Darrow, and a brother Lewis Harris.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday in the Deerfield Cemetery.

Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
