Friday, February 27, 2009

The railroad crossing on Wall Street will be getting a makeover.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway plans to replace its crossing on Wall Street just east of US-69 in Fort Scott. The work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 2, and be completed on Thursday, March 5, weather permitting.

The Kansas Department of Transportation will close Wall Street at the work site for the duration of the project. Traffic will be detoured along a signed route on US-69, 6th Street and Broadway Street. No delays are expected.

The City of Fort Scott has already milled the asphalt in this location to improve the crossing. According to Public Works Director Eric Bailey, BNSF will be replacing all crossing in Fort Scott, however no others have been scheduled yet.
