Jackson, Johnson will represent J-Linn at State

BURLINGTON -- Alan Johnson and Caleb Jackson will represent Jayhawk-Linn High School at the Class 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament this weekend.

Johnson and Jackson qualified as a result of their respective fourth-place finishes at the Burlington Class 3A Regional Tournament here over the weekend.

Johnson finished 3-2 in the 215-pound bracket. Johnson was 2-2 at 285 pounds. They were two of six Jayhawks who took part in the tournament.

Quincy Hodges, wrestling 160 pounds, was also 2-2 but fell out of contention earlier in the bracket because he lost earlier in the championship rounds. Trevor LaPorte (130), David Troth (135) and Jared Avery (145) were each 0-2 in their respective brackets.

As a team, Jayhawk-Linn finished in 15th place with 32 points. Silver Lake won the Regional with 147 1/2 points. Burlington was second with 132 and Rossville third with 126.
