Dr. Guy I. Akers, formerly of Fort Scott, and more recently of Lawrence, Kan., died Friday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2009, at the Brandon Woods Retirement Center in Lawrence, Kan. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
