Firefighters from the Compton Junction, Milo and Nevada fire departments, along with other area emergency responders were all called to Compton Junction at approximately 8:45 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, to battle a blaze discovered by a passing motorist in a business called Strictly Deer. The building, a deer processing facility, near Route M and 1600 Road, was extensively damaged by smoke and flames on the east end. John Houghton, owner of the facility, said no one was hurt. The building didn't appear to be a total loss at the time. "It'll rebuild," said Houghton. A cause for the blaze had not been determined as of press time Friday night. --Rusty Murry/Herald-Tribune
