Juanita Joan Jackson, age 77, a resident of rural Redfield, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Bourbon County, Kan., the daughter of Lloyd Biles, Sr. and Vera Biles.

She married Everett L. "Bud" Jackson on July 1, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2005.

Joan had worked as an aide at the Arkhaven Nursing Home for over 16 years.

Survivors include a son, Rob Jackson, and wife, Dixie, of Fort Scott; three grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Jackson, Robin Lynn Jackson and William Earnest Jackson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lloyd Biles, Jr. and Wendell Biles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Carmel Cancer Treatment Center and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan. 66701.
