"It is important the public know and understand the criteria for an AMBER Alert to be issued," Six said. "These public service announcements will help Kansans remember that law enforcement will only issue AMBER Alerts when they believe the public can help locate a child under 18 who is believed to have been abducted and in serious danger."
The Kansas AMBER Program is used by law enforcement to disseminate information quickly to the public when a child goes missing and to assist in locating them safely and quickly.
Through the wireless alert system, Kansans can sign up to receive AMBER Alert notification on their cell phone. This system will get information directly to individuals capable of assisting police.
"The Kansas AMBER Alert program is law enforcement's greatest tool to locate missing children and bring them home safely," Six said. "And it depends on help from people like you becoming aware an alert has been activated, and reporting any leads you might have."
