Monica B. Hershey, age 12, a resident of 802 Heylman, Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday evening, Dec. 1, 2008, as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born May 24, 1996, in Riverside County, California, the daughter of Jason Edward Hershey and Vanessa Marlena McLane Hershey. Monica was a student at Fort Scott Middle School.

Survivors include her parents, Jason and Vanessa Hershey, Fort Scott; two brothers, Jason Wyatt Hershey and Andrew Riley Hershey, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Teresa McLane and husband Richard, Fort Scott, and Riley Henderson and wife Margo, Clay City, Indiana; paternal grandparents, Carol and Albert Hershey, Cherry Valley, Calif. paternal great-grandmother, Muriel Killeen, Beaumont, California, and maternal great-grandmother, Margo Laughlin, Banning, Calif.

Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Arizona.

Rev. Rod Hillhouse will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Private family burial will follow on Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
