Larry Lynn Schwartz, 69, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, following an illness of one month. He was born May 27, 1939, in Haigler, Neb., to Norval Fredrik Schwartz and Gladys Goldie Gerdes Schwartz. He married Patricia Iline Houdeshell on Aug. 24, 1958, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.
Larry was born in Nebraska and raised in Colorado. He served in the United States. Army from 1961 to 1964, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. Following the service, he made his living as a mechanic and operator of heavy equipment and was a member of the Local Operating Engineers Union 16 and 101. He was also a member of the American Legion of Sheldon.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Patricia, include one son, Guy Schwartz, Wyandotte, Okla.; one daughter, Angela Stone and her husband John, Sheldon; five grandchildren, Chambree and Saraya Giberti, Ashley, Jessica, and Triston Stone, all of Sheldon, and one brother, Keith Schwartz, Ordway, Okla. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Jerod Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends noon to 1 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home.
