The main differences in the game were rebounding and field-goal shooting. Barton County (6-0) outrebounded Fort Scott by a margin of 49-29 and also shot 50 percent from the field, making 32 of 64 field-goal attempts. The Greyhounds (2-3) shot only 39 percent on 28 of 71.
Fort Scott held its only lead about five minutes into the contest when Kirklin Bohanon made a three-pointer to make it a 9-8 game. But over the next four minutes, the Cougars went on a 13-3 run that secured the lead for good.
Barton led 39-28 at halftime, then grew it to 26 points on two occasions late in the second half, the last time at 82-56 with 3:08 remaining.
Bohanon led the 'Hounds with 22 points while dishing six assists and picking up six steals. Bryce Kemp added 12 points. Brandon Dougherty handed out seven assists.
Nyika Williams led Barton County with 19 points as he went eight of nine from the field. Corey Bingham added 15 points and Josh Martin scored 14 for the Cougars.
The Greyhounds will play in a four-team classic at State Fair Community College this weekend. They take on the host Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. Friday night and Moberly Area at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
