RICHMOND -- Uniontown's volleyball team posted a 2-3 record at the Central Heights Tournament here Saturday afternoon, winning its first two matches of the day.
The Eagles (20-12) defeated Erie in their first match, 25-13, 25-18. Abbie Smith had six kills as she was successful on 13 of 16 attack chances. Jacy Ermel was 13 of 14 in attack and had five kills. Jessie Camac had 10 blocks.
Next, Uniontown downed Powhattan-Kickapoo Nation, 25-5, 25-7. Smith was nine of 10 in attack and had six kills. At one point in the match, she served for 16 straight points.
Central Heights, one of the top teams in Class 3A this year, beat Uniontown, 25-18, 25-13. Devann Crystal had five kills as she was 10 of 12 in attack. Ermel and Smith had five kills each and Smith also had eight blocks.
Next, Class 4A Girard beat Uniontown, 25-11, 25-16. Although the attack percentages were high in this match, the Eagles did not record many kills.
In the final match, Kansas City Metro Academy downed Uniontown, 25-18, 25-23. Smith was nine of 11 in attack and had five kills.
Uniontown hosts Pleasanton and Marmaton Valley in a non-league triangular tonight at the West Bourbon Elementary gym.
