Geneva L. Herrin, 85, of Moran, Kan., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola.
She was born March 27, 1923, at Sharon, Kan., to Clarence and Louise (Lehnus) Shepherd. She grew up in various parts of Kansas and graduated from Stark High School in 1943.
On May 15, 1943, she married Roy Herrin at Erie, Kan. They made their home on a farm at rural Walnut, Kan., until 1996 when they moved to Moran. He died Nov. 1, 2004.
Geneva enjoyed working crossword puzzles, making crafts, raising flowers and gathering and picking nuts.
One daughter: Janet Meiwes and husband, George, Moran Kan.
Two sons: Kenny James Herrin and wife, Devona, LaCygne, Kan.; and Gary Herrin, Bentonville, Ark.
Two Sisters: Betty Smith and husband, Willie, Elsmore, Kan.; and Lorene Reynolds, Redding, Calif.
Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Basil, LeRoy, Howard and Jimmy Shepherd.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, at Waugh-Yokem & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at the Waugh-Yokem & Friskel Chapel. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to wither the American Heart Association or Parkinson's Foundation and they may be left at the Waughn-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
