In their first match, the Tigers lost to Columbus, 25-22, 27-25. Megan McDermed and Kori Allen had four kills each. Kelsey Middleton served two aces.
Fort Scott defeated Fredonia, 25-17, 25-15. Allen and Kelsey each had three kills with Middleton also served two aces.
In the last match of pool play, the Tigers beat Independence, 25-15, 25-12. Middleton had six kills while McDermed had five.
The Tigers finished in second place in their pool and had to take on Pittsburg, the winner of the other pool. In what was said to be their best match of the day, Fort Scott beat Pittsburg, 25-13, 25-13. McDermed and Marliss Allen each had four kills. Allen also served five aces.
The Tigers met Iola in the championship match. After battling back from large deficits to win the first game, 26-24, the Tigers lost the final two games, 27-25 and 15-11. McDermed led the Tigers with nine kills. Middleton and Brooke Gillen each had four. Libby Halsey served three aces and Marliss Allen served two aces.
The Tigers' record stood at 11-6 on the season after this tournament. Thursday night, they were on the road, playing Independence and Labette County. They will also go to Labette County on Monday.
