Ruth Irene Garner, 96, formerly of Prescott, Kan. died Friday evening September 26, 2008 at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. She was born February 24, 1912 on the family farm near Benton, Kan. the daughter of Tom and Katie Sieg Sparks. She married Robert F. Krueger on September 28, 1932, he preceded her in death. She married Walter Garner June 9, 1976 in Fort Scott, Kan., he preceded her in death.
Irene was a member of the Palmyra Baptist Church near Whitewater, Kan., and the Furley 4-H Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Shoemaker of Fort Scott, Kan. and Donna Dole of Valley Center, Kan., a sister Lillian Confer of Culbertson, Nebraska, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Hiser.
Pastor Norman Tillotson of the Palmyra Baptist Church will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Palmyra Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Green Valley Cemetery near Whitewater, Kan. under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Palmyra Baptist Church, donations may be sent to or left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall, P.O.
