ERIE -- Fort Scott High School's volleyball team posted a sweep at a quadrangular here Saturday.
The Tigers, who improved to 5-3 on the season, defeated Southeast-Cherokee and Erie in two games and Southeast Kansas League rival Parsons in three.
The scores versus Southeast were 25-17, 25-12. Sammi Therwhanger had seven kills for the Tigers while Mallory Shelton had four and Megan McDermed had two. Courtney Carpenter served four aces and was credited with eight digs. Alanna Masterson had six digs and Libby Halsey led with six assists.
The Tigers then beat Erie, 25-18, 25-23. Annie Gladbach had seven kills while Therwhanger had six and Jenna Campbell posted three. Monica Dikeman recorded six digs. Brittany Bingesser had 17 assists and five digs.
Parsons won the first game of the final match, 25-20. But the Tigers came back to win the final two, 25-17, 25-20. Gladbach picked up 10 kills and served a pair of aces. Shelton had seven kills. Bingesser dished 19 assists and had two aces. Dikeman had 13 digs.
The Tigers will travel to Osawatomie Thursday for another quadrangular. They will play the host school and Prairie View of the Pioneer League and Louisburg of the Frontier League. Play begins at 5 p.m.
