PARSONS -- Kalia Dancy finished second in No. 1 singles for Fort Scott High in a junior varsity tennis tournament here Tuesday. Dancy, who has a 7-2 record, picked up wins of 6-5 (8-6) over Pittsburg's Shelly Trimble, 6-0 over Labette County White's Sarah Nading and 6-2 over LCHS Gold's Lakyn Baughman. She also received a forfeit win over Iola and lost to Paige Almond of LCHS Red, 6-2.
Fort Scott's other entrant, the No. 1 doubles team of Kelsie Hess and Sammi Carr, was 0-5 for a sixth-place finish. The pair lost to Allie Hamilton/Ashton Borne of Pittsburg, 6-0, McKinley Ford/Nina Fraggatte of Iola, 6-2, Amberly Richins/Hailey Kagen of LCHS Red, 6-0, Kaitlyn Phillips-Blogg/Kayla Kabrey of LCHS White, 6-5 (10-8), and Kaitlyn Woolfolk and Amanda Clapp of LCHS Gold, 6-2.
The Tiger JV will host a tournament Monday. Columbus, Coffeyville, Chanute and Parsons are scheduled to attend. Play begins at 1 p.m.
