Nevada takes pair of tough losses to Webb City, Joplin

Nevada Highscool's girls varsity tennis team had a dissapointing day Thursday when they fell two matches to seven against Joplin High School.

In singles Nevada's Ashley McKinley took one of the Tiger's two wins against Lexi Wilcoxen in a close 8-6 match.

This was followed by Leah Creasy's 6-8 loss against Joplin's Abby Kilgore.

Nevada's second win came from Caitlin Wagner who took out Noelle Kounslar 9-8.

Ashley Magsam went up against Joplin's Leah Collins, but, was defeated 4-7.

This became the trend for Nevada as Bailey Miller lost to Chaney Endicott 2-8, Tori George was defeated by Dana Jacobs 3-8 and Lauren Phillips found herself on the losing end of Nevada's only singles shutout 0-8.

In pairs, Nevada's failed to pull things together going 0-3 in matchups.

McKinley and Creasy had the best game falling by 2 points, 6-8 against Joplin's Wilcoxen and Kilgore.

Wagner and Magsamfell to Kounslar and Collins in Nevada's second match shutout and Miller and George only managed one point against Joplin's Endicott and Jacobs.

Things didn't pick up for Nevada When they faced Webb City Friday and were shut down 0-9 matches.

McKinley lost to Lauren Robertson 1-8, followed by Creasy's loss to Liz Hare, 1-8.

The closest game of the night was Wagner's 4-8 loss to Hayden Rand.

Magsam was shutout by Lynsey Setser, 0-8 as was Miller against Maddie Jewsbury, 0-8. George only managed one point against Joplin's Kirsten Robertson, 1-8. Phillips fell to Brandy Trammel 1-6.

Doubles matchups were a complete shutout with McKinley and Creasy losing to Roberston and Rand, Wagner and Magsam losing to Hare and Snyder and George and Phillips falling to Jewsberry and Setser all in 0-8 matches.

Nevada will look to turn things around in their next matchup against Monett High School Tuesday at 4:30 in Nevada.
