Kalia Dancy finished in second place in No. 2 singles as Fort Scott High School hosted a junior varsity tennis tournament Monday. Dancy had a 3-1 record on the day while the No. 2 doubles team of Kelsie Hess and Sammi Carr were 0-4. All three were competing in their first tennis tournament as high school players.
Dancy defeated Kirsten Miller of Independence, 6-2, and Lauren Baker of Nevada, 6-4. She lost to Anna Frasco of Pittsburg, 6-4, and won over Iola's Kattia Andrews by default.
Hess/Carr lost to Taylor Murdock/Sarah Fowler of Independence and Bailey Miller/Tori George of Nevada by 6-0 scores and to Val Maris/Aria Huegenin of Pittsburg and McKinley Ford/Nina Fraggatte of Iola, 6-1.
The next JV tournament is Sept. 9 at Parsons as Labette County High School hosts.
