MARION FRANKLIN EDGAR

Marion Franklin Edgar, 82, formerly of Fort Scott, and also formerly of Basehor, Kan., died Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the Kansas City Hospice Care, Kansas City, Mo.

He was born February 9, 1926, in Carpenter, Wyoming, the son of Charles Franklin and Ruth Enfield Edgar. He married Rosa Belle Payne on February 20, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1991.

He owned and operated the Edgar Transmission Service in Kansas City, Kansas for 21 years.

He is survived by four daughters; Alice Jones of Joplin, Mo., Linda Nelson of Kansas City, Mo., Deborah Campbell of Martin, S.D., and Ruth Rome of McLouth, Kan., a son Charles Edgar of Clinton, Mo., his Companion, Eleanor Tuttle of Basehor, Kan., two brothers; James Edgar of Wichita, Kan., and Robert Edgar of Warsaw, Mo., 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Rosa, he was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Jerry Lee Edgar.

V.F.W. Chaplin James R. Stradley will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Services are under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
