Fellowship tea scheduled August 6

Pastor Mary Akin, Elmer Miller and his wife, attended the United Methodist Parish council meeting at the Mapleton Methodist Church, August 4.

Clara Brewer served on the election board at the Redfield Community Center. Others on the board were Wilma Graham, Marietta Hixon and Janet Murphy.

Cindy Davis spent a few days this week in Wichita on a business trip for her job.

Clara Brewer attended a birthday dinner for her daughter, Mildred Hall, at the Hall home, in Fort Scott, August 6. Others attending were Don, Laurie, Ashten and Erin Hall, Kingman, Kan., and Dana, Chloe and Abby Harris and Tim Usury of Pittsburg.

Several from this community attended the wedding of Tim Brown and Nickie Collins at the First Baptist Church, August 8.

Beverly Davis and Lynda Foster attended a reunion of the Zook and Flickinger Grand Family in Arkansas City, August 9.

The monthly community potluck supper was held Saturday night, August 9.

Sympathy is extended to the Gary Foster family at the death of Gary's aunt in the Topeka area. Gary and Lynda attended the funeral on Monday.

With school starting at most schools this week, we wish both teachers and students a healthy and safe school year.

Several out of town families and friends were registered at the 25th anniversary reception of Kevin Davis and his wife, hosted by Beverly Davis, at the church, August 10. A family dinner preceded the reception at the Davis home. The Davis family returened to their home in Scott City on Monday.

Visitors welcomed at worship, August 10, were Kevin Davis and family, and David Foster and his family.

Pastor Mary's sermon was titled "One plus one equals five", and scripture was read from Psalm 62: 5-12 and Isaiah 49:8-16 and Matthew 6:19-34.

Mapleton is our prayer church partner for the next three months.

The Mission Outreach Committee met with Pastor Mary immediately after Sunday School.

The Administrative Board meeting will be held after Sunday School, August 17. The pizza party for the Walk Kansas Teams will follow the board meeting.

Ladies, don't forget the Fellowship Tea at the church, August 6, at 2 p.m.

Dean and Effie Mitchell visited at the home of Pat Cook and Ben Mitchell, Sunday afernoon, August 10.
