What are some of your qualifications for this position? I have been in business management for over 30 yr., I was a City Commissioner for around 12 yr. and County Commisssioner for the last 3 1/2 yr.

I am also very dedicated and passsionate to see Bourbon County prosper.

Have you held a public office before? I was a City Commissioner for around 12 yr. and County Commisssioner for the last 3 1/2 yr.

Why are you running for this office? I enjoy public service and as I said I believe I have a real passion to do this and I enjoy making a difference. I believe I have made a positive impact.

What do you believe your strengths will be in this office if elected? I believe my passion for public service and dedication to our community along with my life experiences are my strengths.

What ideas specifically do you have for the betterment of Bourbon County? I am already working on many, I am working on funding for sewer treatment around Fort Scott Lake, which will help ensure our drinking water quaility for the future. I am working on funding with Drywood Township on a Storm Shelter/ Community Center which will house people in times of tornados, power outages, ect. I am working on a grant appropriation to pay for the local match for the 69 corridor study. I am seeking legislation from Congress to change the law that requires Counties to pay for total health care for inmates. I am working with the National Association of Counties to make available to our citizens a drug card that will ensure us the lowest price on prescription drugs. The Commission just purchased new equipment for the rock quarry which should almost double our production without adding any man hours, this should help our employee's do a better job on all of Bourbon County roads. I believe we must be very aggressive with economic development and go after the job and the kind of wages that will help ensure a bright future for Bourbon County.

How important do you feel city/county cooperation is to the area? I feel it is very important, one of the reasons I first sought this office was to bring my experience and working relationships from the city to the county. I believe we work very well together whenever possible, I believe all taxing entities should work together on as many projects as possible if it will save tax dollars.

What community boards/organizations do you belong to? Board of County Commssioners- I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce- I am a member of the Elks Lodge and I head up Christmas Basket program and the community fireworks display for the lodge- I am a member of Bourbon County Economic Counsel representing the County- I work with various organizations on fundraising through out the county.

Additional comments: In closing I have enjoyed representing Bourbon County as 2nd District Commissioner over the past 31/2 years, I believe I have a real passion for this kind of position,and I would love to represent you for the next four years and my commitment to the taxpayers is to work hard and do my very best to keep Bourbon County moving forward and grow in a responsible manner.
