He will be fully equipped with shoes of peace, the waistbelt of truth, the shield of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, Bibleman, a Christian superhero, will make a special appearance at the First Assembly of God, 124 E. National, as part of a DVD premiere event.

At the free event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Bibleman in person and view his new DVD "In the Presence of Enemies," which will not be available to the general public until October. The new Bibleman adventure, which is a lesson in trusting God's Word, shows children how to use the Word of God to fight against the devil.

According to information recorded on Bibleman's Web site, www.bibleman.com, in the series, Bibleman is a human transformed by the Word of God. Played by pastor Robert T. Schlipp, Bibleman, which is Josh Carpenter's alter ego, is joined in the series by his sidekicks Cypher and Biblegirl. The new video influences children to communicate with God on a daily basis.

"Bibleman appeals to parents and children alike as the show seeks to encourage kids to have their own personal relationship with Jesus," the Bibleman Web site said.

According to an article in Charisma Magazine, the original Bibleman was played by Willie Aames, who stared in the popular television series "Eight is Enough" in the 70s. After touring the country as Bibleman for eight years, Aames has hung up his cape and will operate a Kansas-based entertainment company. During the time that Bibleman has been on the scene, thousands of people have been affected by his ministry, the article said.

"In one year, 16,000 children and adults committed their lives to Christ in Bibleman outreaches. In September at a Franklin Graham crusade in Tulsa, Okla., where Aames made one of his last appearances as Bibleman, nearly 600 people -- mostly children -- accepted Christ," Charisma said.
