Rodney Daryl Wakefield, age 54, a resident of Prescott, Kan., died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. He was born August 3, 1953, in Newton, Kan., the son of Willard Bart Wakefield and Vera Duncan Wakefield.

Rod first married Beverly Wheeler in 1983. They were divorced. He later married his longtime friend and companion, Rosemary Post, on February 11, 2007, at Prescott, Kan. Rod had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operators Engineers Local No. 101 out of Kansas City.

He was a member of the Prescott United Methodist Church and the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, of the home; two daughters, Lacey Jackson and husband, Cody, Grove, Okla., and Crystal Wiley and husband, Mo, Wichita, Kan.; a step-son, Troy Post and wife, Ty, Ayr, Neb.

Also surviving are three brothers, Thomas Wakefield and wife, Lynn, Gwinn, Mich., Robert Radike, Gwinn, Mich., and Danny Duncan, of Mont.; and four grandchildren, Maci, Myesha, Chloe, and Tori. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastor Gary DeMott will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Little Walnut Township Cemetery in Leon, Kan.
