Lewis returns from Iraq, Ramsey graduates

Trent Ramsey received a GED diploma at the graduation held at the Fort Scott Community Cafeteria Thursday evening. There were several of his family and friends there. Those attending from our area were. Pastor Paul Rooks and Ron and Linda Center.

Beverly Peel visited her mother, Marjorie Lewis Sunday afternoon and they enjoyed playing cards. Later they enjoyed visiting with Dean and Effie Mitchell.

Friday evening, May 16, June Hereford, Ron, Linda Center and James Pastor Paul and Shelley Rooks, attended a dinner and dessert dinner in honor of Katie Johnson. The event was held at the home of her grandparents, Bob and Carol Russell. Her mother, Barbie Johnson designed and made her graduation cake. The top tier was red velvet cake, and decorated with a tiger paw. The bottom layer was chocolate cake with a picture of Katie as a little girl. Both cakes were frosted with cream cheese frosting. Katie opened her gifts and cards after everyone had enjoyed cake.

SFC Jason L. Lewis is home from Iraq. He was a supper guest of his grandmother, Marjorie Lewis. His parents, Mr. And Mrs. Ron Lewis were also there. Jason enjoyed some of his favorite food, new potatoes and peas creamed together, meat loaf, celery dip, cheese, cottage cheese, and strawberries and biscuits. Jason is stationed at Fort Riley.

Saturday, May 17, Ron, Linda, Ronette and Scott Center attended an open house for Brittani Rooks, at her home, hosted by her parents, Pastor and Shelley Rooks. Her brother Chase produced a DVD highlighting some special events in her life as a special gift for her.

Saturday, May 17, Ron, Linda, Ronette, Scott and James attended the baccalaureate service at Fort Scott High School Gym. They traveled to Nevada that evening to attend a graduation supper held for their niece, Kadee Hughes. They returned to Fort Scott in time to attend the graduation ceremony at Frary Field at 8 p.m..

Maureen Lewis of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tiffany Lewis of Kansas City, Mo., and their mother, Kitty Lewis were breakfast guest of Marjorie Lewis recently. After eating they all played cards.

May I8, June Hereford, Ron, Linda, Ronette and Scott Center enjoyed Sunday dinner at Chicken Mary's. Ron, Linda and Ronette attended the graduation services held at Girard Ted R. Taylor. They enjoyed a graduation celebration for Nathan Gier at the Girard Public Library after graduation. Marjorie Lewis was a supper guest of Ron and Leah Lewis, Sunday evening, May 18.

Ron and Linda Center hosted a fellowship for the youth of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle, Sunday evening. Everyone enjoyed hors d'oeuvre of little sausages, meatballs, and hotdogs. A veggie tray of celery, carrots, pickles and olives were served with crackers, chips, and dip, Linda made homemade strawberry, Oreo, and peanut butter ice cream.

Bill and Laurie Center came for the marriage of Laurie's sister, Shelly Russell, to Brett Alien. Bill performed the ceremony the morning of May 31. The Alien's will be living in Colorado. Scott Center returned Bill and Laurie back to Kansas City, Sunday, June 1 to catch their plane.

A surprise reception honoring the Youth Pastor, Brian and Brandy Rooks, Caleb and Andrew, of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle, was given June 8, in honor of their tenth year serving with the youth. Barbie Johnson baked and decorated three cakes, to serve with the mints, nuts and punch. The youth department served and helped clean up. The Rhoades received many cards and gifts as well as a check from the church. All of us want to add our thanks for a job well done.

Linda Center hosted a Father's Day dinner for the following, Ron Center, Scott Center, Jake Collins, June Hereford, Kelsie Jo, Collins, Ronette, James and Lindsey Center.

Ron, Linda and James Center and Bill Center, Loto, Montana, traveled to Fort Leavenworth recently. All enjoyed a day of visiting as well as taking care of business at the Fort.
