Don and Mona Stern

Don and Mona Stern, of Fort Scott, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Friday, June 20.

Donald R. Stern and Mona Lee George were married June 20, 1948 in Aliceville, Kan., with their families and friends.

The couple has lived in Fort Scott for 44 years. Don is a retired teacher and coach from Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College. Mona was employed by Western Insurance Company.

The couple has three children, Donna and Roger Britain, Gary and Pat Stern, and Susan Stern, daughter-in-law. One son, Tommy Stern, is deceased. The couple also has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Sterns will be celebrating with family and friends. A trip to Canada is planned for later in the month.
