Helen was born February 14, 1920 in Gary, Ind., to Anna Cimbala Pavlick and John Pavlick. She graduated from Tolleston High School in 1938. She enlisted in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps 1942 to serve during World War II. Helen was married on Oct. 2 1943, to Hubert Dale Reid. For much of her life, she was a homemaker and mother. She also worked at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Big Rapids, Mich., the Crosier Monastery in Hastings, Neb., and volunteered at St. Mary's Church in Pittsburg, Kan. and St. Joseph's Church in Santa Ana, Calif. As Helen often liked to say, "She's lived from New York to California."
Helen deeply loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, attending church and her grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, John and Michael Pavlick; her sisters, Josephine Kirk, Leona Blaney, Mary Labas, Alice Zaranka, and Joan Skolak. Helen leaves behind to mourn, her daughters; Jan Yund, Anne Roth, Nancy Coche, Barb Bertken, Sarah Powell and her "adopted" son Bright Ewharekuko. Helen also leaves behind sons-in law, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews -- all of whom were much beloved.
