Local gardening helpers hold lifelike surprise

Rick and Carol Singmaster and Sylvia hosted a dinner, May 24, for Janet and Posie Barker, Ray and Lori Singmaster, Colo Springs Co., Joyce Walker and Mike Todd, Tippin, Ark.; Esther Secrest, Russell and Nichole Coaner and daughters, and Gary Singmaster. Sunday the group was along with Arnold, and Clara Schofield and Austin and Carol Bingesser and Larry Lawrence enjoyed dinner at Chicken Annies.

Joan Koeller preached at the Diamond Community Church, May 25. Her sermon was based on the Beatitude; Matthew 5:9. Blessed are the peacemakers. ... and 2nd. Samuel 17. Specials were by Mike Carpenter, who sang "I Saw the Light" and Esther Seacrest who read a Memorial Day Article "A Better tiorld." Visitors were Janet Barker, Ray and Lori Singmaster.

Opal and Eddie Brillhart attended Opal's High School reunion at Blue Mound, May 24. There were 257 in attendance. The dinner was catered by Sugarfoot and Peaches Resturant, Fort Scott.

Marilyn Coonrod Flagg, Indianapolis, Ind. spent the weekend with Ruby Myers.

Have you driven out the Jayhawk Road lately and noticed the Dunn's garden and the people that are "Workiing" in it? One is sitting in a chair, another two are resting on their hoes and the fourth one seems to be hoing. They are so life like one person said he waved at them. I hope they are being paid at least minimum wage. Thanks, Dunn's for brightening our day.

Fred Clary has returned from a recent trip to Chicago, where he attended the wedding of a granddaughter. He was accompanied by Marilyn Webster and Kenneth Clary, who sang at the ceremony. They rode on Amtrak.

The Clarksburg Cemetery looked really nice for Memorial Day. Thanks Fred for taking such good care on the mowing.
