Floyd Pershing Wright, 89, Ottawa, Ks., passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Ks. Funeral services will be 10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 7 at the Antioch Church of the Nazarene, 7600 Antioch, Overland Park, Ks., 66204; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Floyd was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Greenfield, Missouri to Ewing Arther and Dicy Elizabeth (Kimber) Wright. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Floyd retired from the Johnson County Waste Water District in 1986. He was an avid Royals and KU Basketball fan and enjoyed working on clocks and cars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Aileen (Hull) Wright on March 2, 1991, daughter, Sharon Wright, grandson, Gary L. Williams Jr., and nine brothers and sisters. he is survived by his Wife, Wilma (Colvin) Wright of the home; four daughters, Glenda Henson, Mission, Ks., Ann Baker, Mission, Ks., Wanda Wright, Merriam, Ks. and Stacy Wright, Cary, N.C.; son, Larry Wright, Shawnee, Ks.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
